Social Media & Digital Marketing Apps, Tools & Resources to make your life easier

What are your favourite business, social media & digital marketing apps, tools & resources?

Here’s my list, plus a few at the bottom from colleagues who generously shared their ‘go to’ apps, tools and resources for business.

Evernote

Let me begin with evernote. I literally could not survive without it. In fact, it’s currently what I use to write blogs in, as well as keep track of client notes. Key features: stay organized with ‘Notebooks’ and tags, post right to social media, present, the ability to annotate a PDF, easy-to-share, alerts, business card capture, document capture, app & desktop version, free options – and I could go on. Voxer

I was introduced to voxer by a previous client who relied on it heavily to keep teams organized and productive. I love it because you get the chance to verbally give updates, direction, clarification by voice (rather than text) and the other person can respond when they have the chance. So it’s like having the benefit of a phone conversation but extremely convenient because you don’t have to coordinate schedules. Key features: ability to share images, group voice messaging, you can easily share messages with team members, app and desktop version, free options – and I could go on. Learn more about Voxer

Dropbox

I don’t use dropbox a ton, but when I need to share large files with clients or vice versa, it seems to be the most easy and efficient route. There are several options when it comes to file sharing, but what I like about dropbox are the notifications, the fact that it’s user friendly and easy to move between the app and the desktop versions. Key features: smart sync, folders, permissions and there are many more features on the business version. Learn more about Dropbox

Asana

Great product for project management. I use it to keep myself and clients up-to-date on projects. It is easy drag/drop of files (images, PDFs, etc.) It’s also a great vehicle for communication – clients can comment directly on key project posts. PLUS there’s an app and desktop version. There are limits on file size depending on your membership, just be aware of that! (e.g.: if you’re moving video files around etc.) Key features: you can create task lists and assign to specific team members; when they finish the task you will get a notification; you can create projects that are private or public to team members (helpful with organization) plus more! Font Candy

I don’t even remember how I found FontCandy but I definitely don’t know how I would survive without it now. It makes my life a lot easier because I can create and edit images for Instagram on the fly (which saves an enormous amount of time!) I love the ability to create 3D, typography, colour palette, multiple layers, animations, symbols, shapes and seasonal overlays. Learn more about FontCandy

Camtasia

I use Camtasia quite a bit because I like to create video tutorials for my clients. It’s not incredibly intuitive, at least not for me but they do have lots of tutorials on their website. I spent quite a bit of time playing around with it but could probably benefit from a tutorial myself. It’s reasonably priced and a good solution for someone just getting their feet wet in video editing.  Learn more about Camtasia

Narro

This is one of the coolest Apps ever. Have you ever visited a website blog and thought, ‘Wow, I wish I had the time to read all this but instead, I have to commute for an hour a day.’ BINGO. Enter Narro. You can turn any webpage into a podcast. Yah. Amazing right? Plus you get to pick the voice. It does sometimes sound a little robotic, but if you can get past that you are on your way to topping up your education with those blogs you’ll never get the chance to read! Learn more about Narro 

Social Media Apps

Facebook Pages

Like many social media managers, I could not survive without the pages app. It makes your life so much easier to be able to track and work within the page. I can schedule posts, check analytics, boost posts, and do pretty much everything right from the Facebook Pages App (different from the regular Facebook App.)

Facebook Ads

Ditto for the Facebook Ads App. I just started using this app and it makes life easier when you can edit your ad campaigns while on-the-go (especially if you are a small business and constantly away from your desk!)
