More Than Just A Marketing Consultant
As an early adopter of social media, Kat Macaulay is a ‘pioneer’ of the new rules of marketing and public relations.
Perhaps best known for her no-nonsense approach to marketing, Kat is driven to help organizations learn how to market more effectively and get results that matter. She holds certifications from Google, as well as Facebook and is currently working toward a specialization in Marketing Analytics. Her desire to stay on top of industry changes and trends, sets her apart from others in the field. With experience in government, not-for-profit and corporate, she’s worked with some of the worlds largest brands and has counselled dozens of senior leaders. She has crafted marketing programs that help organizations grow their visibility, amplify their message and increase bottom lines.
A passionate teacher, Kat is a high-scoring instructor at Mount Royal University, where she teaches Social Media Analytics, Google Analytics and Search Engine Marketing. Additionally, she has taught Social Media Strategy at the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology.Kat is a passionate volunteer and currently sits on the board of her local community association, she is co-chair of the Ovarian Cancer Canada ‘Walk of Hope’ in Calgary, Facebook Community Manager for TEDxYYC and former Sub Chair at Calgary Stampede. When she’s not busy helping others, she’s busy planning her retirement to Cape Breton.

Ovarian Cancer Canada - Walk Of Hope Calgary
In 2019 I proudly joined the Ovarian Cancer Canada Walk Of Hope Organizing Committee. This disease is one that hits close to home for our family.
It is estimated that 2,800 Canadian women this year will be newly diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer. It is the 5th most common cancer for women and the most serious - one out of two women diagnosed will not live past five years of her diagnosis. Currently there is no reliable screening for this type of cancer.
We were ecstatic in March with the Federal Budget announcement that $10 million in funding would be availabe for research. This investment will save lives.

Who isn't in love with TED Talks and creating ideas that spread?>
I joined the TEDxYYC team in 2017. My job (if you can call it that) is to help them build and nurture their social media communities, specifically Facebook.
The entire event is powered by an incredibly talented pool of volunteers whom I'm proud to join each June.
For seven years, Calgary Stampede was a second home. I joined the organization shortly after finishing up the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championship. I had no idea what I was jumping into - Sub Chair, Parade Media + Communications.
Over the years the team grew and so did our mandate. What began as producing technical pieces grew into integrated marketing communications strategies designed to engage both internal and external stakeholders via traditional channels, as well as social and digital.
There was never a dull moment.
Our team launched the first-ever "TweetSeats", we revived the Parade Program and engaged media both domestically and internationally.
Desipte some hesitation in the beginning, we managed to onboard new social media ambasssadors and our tweets and insta posts were seen all around the world!
